In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports decreased in both volume and value.

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports in August 2023 reached more than 2.7 million tons, turnover reached 115.8 million USD, down 3% in volume and decreased 5.8% in value compared to the same period last year.

In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports have decreased by 4.2% in volume and 5.7% in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 21.25 million tons and 923 million. USD. The average export price in 8 months reached 43.4 USD/ton, down 1.5% over the same period in 2022.

Regarding the market, in the first 8 months of the year, many countries are recording a sharp increase in clinker and cement output from Vietnam, including Australia.

Specifically, in August 2023, cement and clinker exports to the Australian market reached 64,893 tons, earning 3.1 million USD, a sharp increase of 193% in volume and 151% in value.

In the first 8 months of the year, Australia imported 344,679 tons of clinker and cement from Vietnam, equivalent to 17.04 million USD, up 139.3% in volume and 124.6% in value. The average export price in the first 8 months of the year reached 49.4 USD/ton, down 6.15% compared to the same period in 2022 (52.6 USD/ton).

Currently, our country’s three main cement export markets are the Philippines, the US and Hong Kong (China). With clinker, the main markets are China, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.
